About Elizabeth

I have been playing the piano since I was eight years old. I have studied up to Grade 8. I studied under a highly qualified teacher who
must have seen something in me, as she began melding me to teach piano from a young age.

Teaching piano is the only work I have ever truly enjoyed.

I moved to Bethanga in 2018 after having worked in Melbourne for several music schools and academies and also running my own successful studio.

I am a classically trained pianist and adjust my teaching style to suit the student’s needs.

I prefer to utilise the Alfred’s Basic Piano Library workbooks as my starting point. These books provide a good introduction to all aspects of piano playing and give the student a future reference if needed.

I also teach different styles and genres at students’ request.

I am a firm believer that every student should learn to read music as this enables them to play any music or transition to other instruments in the future.

I am well versed in teaching
• Children and adults
• Playing for pleasure
• Music theory
• Sight reading
• Preparing for AMEB exams (practical and theory)
• Correct posture and hand positioning
• Music History
• Oral components
• Preparing students for performances
• Most importantly, how to have fun while playing music
